The Powerpuff Girls is an American superhero animated television series created by animator Craig McCracken and produced by Hanna-Barbera, later Cartoon Network Studios, for Cartoon Network. The show centers on Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, three kindergarten-aged girls with superpowers, as well as their father and creator, a scientist named Professor Utonium. The girls all live in the fictional city of Townsville, USA and are frequently called upon by the city's mayor to help fight nearby criminals using their powers. It originally aired on Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2005, becoming one of the most famous shows on Cartoon Network at the time. In 2006, an anime spin-off called Powerpuff Girls Z aired and lasted until 2009. In 2016, The Powerpuff Girls was rebooted with a new series, which is still running to this day.
