Season 1 is the first season of Family Guy. It premiered on January 31st, 1999 with "Death Has a Shadow" and ended on May 30th, 1999 with "Da Boom".
Synopsis[]
Meet the Griffins: Peter, the big, lovable oaf who always says what’s on his mind. Lois, the doting mother who can’t figure out why her baby son keeps trying to kill her. Their daughter Meg, the social outcast teenager who’s constantly embarrassed by her family. Chris, the beefy 13-year-old who wouldn’t hurt a fly, unless it landed on his drawing notebook. Stewie, the maniacal one-year-old bent on world domination. And Brian, the sarcastic dog with a wit as dry as the martinis he drinks. Together, the family tries to tackle their everyday issues in a way of a sitcom due to them watching too much TV.

- The Swanson Family moves into Spooner Street in the episode "A Hero Sits Next Door", introducing Joe Swanson to the main cast as well as Bonnie and Kevin Swanson to the major cast.
- Brian Griffin gets a therapist named Dr. Bruce Kaplan in "Brian in Love"
- Stewie Griffin has his first birthday and turns 1 year old in "Chitty Chitty Death Bang".

- Air all its episodes in one year.
- Have Rachael MacFarlane voice Meg, who would only voice her for the pilot and be replaced by Lacey Chabert for the rest of the season. It's also the only season (not counting the pilot) to have Meg voiced by Lacey entirely
- Have animation done by Film Roman
- Be rated TV-PG compared to it's usual TV-14 rating.
- This is the shortest season in Family Guy's history. With it being an eighteen-episode season compared to a usual twenty episode and above season.
- This season features the first New Year's special of the series, this being the season finale, "Da Boom".
