Plot[]

Meg continues her quest to become Kevin's boyfriend but can't do anything to get Kevin to notice her. She tries hitting on him, flirting with him, and even passing notes to admit her love, but all admits fail. Luckless, she asks Lois for help to find a way to get Kevin to notice her. Lois agrees and while trying to find ways to get him to notice, Lois discovers Meg’s talent for ice skating when she skates around an ice rink and says she can use that to get Kevin's attention at the upcoming ice skating competition.

Meg gets hooked on this idea and hires Bruce as her coach. With them using the same rink to practice and needing to get up very early to practice, even if he does nothing but express his dissatisfaction for her and mention about wanting to quit his job the second he's done with this. But regardless, she's dedicated to her skating practice, to even knocking out a group of boys who want her to get off the ice so that they can play ice hockey.

On the day of the ice skating competition, the first two skaters do very badly on their turn but the third, Evelyn, does well when she goes out and the pressure is on Meg to outdo her. Unfortunately, Meg ends up failing her turn and gets laughed at by everyone in the rink. As Meg and Lois walk home defeated, Kevin actually comes to Meg and tells her she rocked out there. And even asked her if she wanted him to help her improve her skating, which Meg agrees to.

Meanwhile, Geronimo's Palace goes out of business after someone wins all the gambling games and deprives them of all their money. The Indians all have to relocate and one of them, Change for a Buck, relocates to Quahog. Change for a Buck has trouble finding a place to live because he has no money, so the Griffins let him live with them until he can get back on his feet. Change for a Buck says that at his job, he doesn't want to con people out of their money again. This time, he wants to work a legitimate and ethical job. Peter temporarily has him working at the Happy-Go-Lucky Toy Factory with him. A few problems arise during his time working and living with Peter but they pull through. Eventually, Change for a Buck gets enough money to buy his own teepee-style house.

Quotes[]

Lois: Now, Meg. It's the 90's. Women don't need to wait to be asked out by a man.

Bruce: [sarcastic] Yeah, if you're lucky, some judge might take pity on you and give you a participation award.

Peter: You know what you never see, Brian? You never see a Native American midget. Why is that? What are we doing wrong that we have midgets but the Indians don't, you know? Plus, it seems like perhaps they'd want a midget. Can you imagine that? An army of Indian midgets charging into battle riding on little cats?

Meg: What'ya think, coach?
[After a beat, Bruce just blows a raspberry at Meg]
Meg: Not good, huh?

Trivia[]

  • The title's on a play on the saying: "Beg for mercy"
  • Principal Shepherd is voiced by Seth MacFarlane in this episode only. Gary Cole provided the role from "Let's All Go to the Hop" and onward.
  • Bruce behaves out of character in this episode, opening act snarky towards Meg and even bluntly admits his dissatisfaction with her progress. A type of behavior that's a far cry from the sweet and timid guy he's mostly known as.
