Vestigial Peter is the eighth episode of the eleventh season of Family Guy. It's the two hundred and fifty-fourth episode overall.

Synopsis[]

Peter discovers that he has a vestigial twin, whom he names Chip, growing out of his neck. It's not long before Peter resents the fact that everyone seems to love Chip more than him, so he decides to amputate his twin. However, when Peter gets into trouble, he realizes he needs Chip more than ever.

Plot[]

When Lois tries to get Peter ready for church, she complains that he keeps wearing the same old shirt and insists that he go to the mall afterward to get new clothes. Trying on a new shirt, the salesman points out a lump on Peter's neck and Lois insists on seeing Dr. Hartman. The doctor identifies it as a vestigial conjoined twin and extracts it from just beneath Peter's skin so that it can talk and react to people as Peter names him Chip. Taking it home, he frightens the kids at first but soon gets everyone to warm up to him. But when Chip wants to live an active life, Peter tries to get him to slow down and Lois objects to him trying to stifle Chip. Chip also gets lucky with Peter's boss Angela and eventually gets on Peter's nerves.

Peter goes back to Dr. Hartman and requests to have Chip removed despite possible risks to his own life. The operation is a success and they become separate entities. Despite Peter's attempt to encourage Chip to go his own way, the family insists Chip stay with them. Chip endears him to the family further when he rearranges the home and spends time with the family. Lois points out that Peter was once as full of life as Chip. Peter decides to get rid of him and tries to have him eaten by a dingo. While the attempt fails, Chip realizes he isn't wanted and leaves. Peter breaks the news to the family and they go search for Chip, leaving Peter alone. Going to the basement, Peter falls down the stairs and breaks his leg. Chip returns and finds Peter, making a splint for his leg and drags him back upstairs. Peter is grateful for what Chip did and makes up with him. Chip decides to go out in the world and experience it for himself, sailing himself aloft on a balloon where he became the kid on ABC's The Middle.

Quotes[]

Chip: Her voice! It's like God sneezing!

[After Chip has sex with Angela]
Peter: [glumly] Welp, now we know. I can taste what he eats.

Peter: Hey, I'm home. I got groceries.
Lois: You what?
Peter: Yeah, I was driving past there and we were out of some stuff, so I...
Lois: [tackles Peter] You listen to me, you son of a bitch! I've got one thing in this lifetime! One thing! [punches Peter]
Peter: You always say I never do anything around here!
Lois: Yeah, I like saying that more than I like you doing things!
Chris: Dad, I got the rest from the car. Where...
Peter: Chris, run! You were right, she didn't appreciate it!
Chris: Oh crap! [Runs off, Lois throws a can at him] Ow!
Lois: That's right. I do groceries!

Peter: Hey Lois, are you sure this place is for men?
Lois: Yes, Peter. It's for everyone.
Peter: Really? 'Cause this kinda looks like a dress.
Lois: Peter, it's fine. Come on out. [Peter complies, Lois takes a picture of him in a dress] Ha, you gaybo!

Peter: Lois, I weigh the same 293 pounds today that I weighed in grade school.

Dr. Hartman: Nurse, have somebody fix that clock. It's very distracting.

Stewie: Vinny! Browser history! Clear it!

Dr. Hartman: Mr. Griffin, you’re a lucky man. If it weren’t for Chip here, you would have lost your leg. The bad news is we did an X-Ray, and your body is full of a spooky skeleton man.
