Ellen is a girl with Down Syndrome that goes to Chris’s school. She appeared in "Extra Large Medium".

Biography

In "Extra Large Medium", Chris and Stewie got lost in the forest and the two started sharing things that they would accomplish if they make it out alive. Chris confessed that he liked a girl named Ellen in his math class, and if they survive, he would ask her out.

Later, when they return to civilization, Stewie supports and encourages him to ask her out at school, and they two approach Ellen. It is then revealed that Ellen has Down's Syndrome, which surprises Stewie a bit, but seeing that Chris finds her attractive and sweet, urges Chris to go talk to her. He finally gets the courage to ask Ellen out, and the brothers return home to prepare for the date.

As the date went on, it became apparent to Chris that Ellen was not as sweet and kind as he initially thought. She is an extremely demanding and bossy person, often rudely asking Chris to do things for her, and had no interest in his life whatsoever. Chris told her that he was breaking up with her and that he didn't care how hot she was. Chris left her home, leaving her to scream and bitch as he walked away. Despite their relationship failing, Stewie still congratulated Chris on asking her out in the first place because "It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all."

Trivia

  • Her voice actor, Andrea Fay Friedman, is also effected by Down's Syndrome.
  • Ellen said that her mother is the governor of Alaska. At the time this episode was produced and aired, the real-life governer of Alaska was Sarah Palin, meaning that she is her mother. In real life, Sarah Palin's daughter is a neurotypical, but her son actually does have down syndrome.
    • Sarah Palin got offended by this joke and she called the Family Guy writers out on it. Her complaints were not listened to, since the voice actor of this character also has down syndrome, which means it's really not all that offensive. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
