In "Road to Rhode Island", he helped Brian realize he needs to fix his separation issues.

In "Screwed the Pooch", he talks with Brain about giving into urges, something that Brian was having issues with. And the next week, Brian would take to him about him learning about what happens when he gives into urges, only to find out Kaplan was giving into his own urges too.

In "Power Over Peter", he's hired as Peter's psychologist when tries to control his drinking. It fails, and Kaplan refuses to be called in for Peter again. Calling Peter "a lost cause".

He was called in again in "The Thin White Line" so Brian can kick his cocaine addiction. The attempt fails, and Kaplan is fired, as Brian believes he is not needed anymore.

After a long absence from the series, due to plot irrelevance, Kaplan returned in "Lover's Queerel" as the marriage council for Bruce and Jeffrey Hitlerdidnothingwrong. alongside Peter and Lois. Even makes a meta-joke when the couples come in, exclaiming "Finally! Someone came into my office after twenty years!" in excitement.

He then returned one more time in "Snapple Decision" as the friendship therapist for Brian and Stewie. Though this one didn't work out in trying to improve their friendship and suggest that their relationship should not continue after multiple failed attempts, deeming it toxic.

Trivia[]

  • While his age is a mystery, there's been some clues to how old he is. He has grey hair, but still has all of the hair and not all of it is fallen off. Coupled with the fact he mentions he's been doing psychology for over forty years in "Power Over Peter", if one interprets him starting in his 20's-30's, he would be in his 60's-70's.
