Peter Talks About Cleveland Steamers

A Cleveland Steamer is a sexual act, wherein one partner defecates on another partner's chest, sits in the feces, and then rocks back and forth in it, spreading the fecal matter across his/her partner's body, in a way comparable to that of a steamroller. It is a running gag for the sexual act to be referenced to in Family Guy.

Occasions[]

A Picture's Worth $1000[]

Brian goes to The Musem of Fine Arts and sees some artwork by Robert Mapplethorpe, that isn't photography. An artist explains to Brian that before photography, Mapplethorpe was a caricature artist at a carnival. A cutaway showed a kid asking Mapplethorpe to draw his favorite baseball player, Reggie Jackson and then Mapplethorpe drawing Reggie Jackson taking a shit on the kid's chest. Shocked and disturbed, the kid asks why he would draw that and as Mapplethorpe explains, Reggie Jackson was once a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, so it only makes sense he'd be taking a "Cleveland Steamer" on his number one fan. The kid asks what a Cleveland Steamer is and Mapplethorpe says "Here, let me show you." as he proceeds to draw on his easel and then shows the picture to the kid, causing the latter to scream and run away in terror. Although the drawing is never shown, it is implied it matches the description Mapplethorpe gave prior of Reggie shitting on the boy's chest.

Mr. Saturday Knight[]

Peter gets a job as a prostitute and Lois finds him and demands he get in the car. Peter says that he'll have to charge her and then asks if she wants a Cleveland Steamer. Lois can't even express her anger because she's too overcome with curiosity over what a Cleveland Steamer is. Brian tries to explain to her what it is, but is cut off by Peter when the police comes close to the car.

Long John Peter[]

After getting dumped by Anna, Chris incorrectly states that she "took a dump on him". Lois corrects him and says that if she really took a dump on him, she'd be doing something different. Not wanting to explain the details, she just lets him know that if he wants to know what that means, to just look up a "Cleveland Steamer".

Foreign Affairs[]

Lois and Bonnie go on vacation to Paris, France. While out eating at a restaurant, a dirty Frenchman comes up to Bonnie and starts hitting on her and asks if she wants him to give her a "Strasbourg Steamer", which is presumably the French version of the Cleveland Steamer.

German Guy[]

Peter addressed Franz Gutentag as "Mr. Poopenchest".

Internal Affairs[]

Bonnie joined a dating website called "Diarheea Date" or "D-Date".

Trivia[]

  • The term "Cleveland Steamer" is commonly used as sexual slang in real life. The exact origin of this term, though still ambiguous, most likely comes from Family Guy, as the first recorded use of the term "Cleveland Steamer" came from the episode "A Picture's Worth $1000", which aired on April 4th, 1999.
    • After the term "Cleveland Steamer" became popularized, the FOX censored recognized it as a real profanity and forbade Family Guy from continuing to use the word, despite them being the ones who came up with it in the first place.
  • For unknown reasons, for the Latin Spanish dubbing of the Mr. Saturday Knight episode, the term was changed to 69, possibly referring to the 69 position of the kamasutra.
  • In the "The Cleveland Show" episode, "The Cleveland Junior Cherry Bomb", Cleveland references to this running gag, during the song, "Straight Outta Stoolbend", where one of the lyrics is "I'm a Cleveland Steamer. Come and take a big old shit on me."
